Yusuf
Born in 1952 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, Yusuf obtained a diploma in painting and sculpture in the late 70s.
In his contemporary abstract paintings, Yusuf generally sticks to sparse and geometric forms. The abstractionist generally expresses using a limited color palette over multiple mediums such as oil, ink and acrylic on canvas.
The artist has held multiple solo shows as well as group shows including VII Triennale, New Delhi in 1992 and the Bangladesh Biennale, Dhaka in 1995. Yusuf has won awards such as the All India Exhibition MKKP, Raipur 1976-77 International Asian European Biennial, Turkey 1980, All India Drawing Exhibition, Chandigarh 1984-85, Bharat Bhavan Biennial, Bhopal 1986 and the National Award Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi 1987 amongst the others
